Site Study #1
While making breakfast, I found myself staring at the eggs nestled in their carton. The eggs brought to mind Andy Weir's story of The Egg. The egg is the beginning of life, despite its fragility with nurture and care it can evolve to something more. Other times it succumbs to destruction. According to Weir's story we may all be a fetus exploring one life at a time in a universe that is basically an egg.
I stumbled upon an article about John Power's and his experience of working with Jeff Koons. He worked on a piece called the Cracked Egg for months when there was an equipment malfunction that damaged the piece. Just like an egg the work was easily ruined, which in turn left John Power to try and collect the pieces. Unfortunately after this event he was unable to continue his work as a painter. He succumbed to the destruction like the cracked egg he was painting.
While digesting these thoughts I began to handle the eggs and explore them and their fragility further. The following are 10 pictures of this first site's exploration.
